Terms of service
Last updated: 23 August 2026
1. Using Anakel means accepting this
By installing or using Anakel you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it: since there's no account to close, uninstalling is enough.
They're written in plain language on purpose. If something isn't clear, ask us — we'll explain it, and we'll probably rewrite the paragraph.
2. Who we are
Anakel is a personal collection app developed and published by MTTechDev, from Peru. Contact: soporte@mttechdev.com.
3. What Anakel is
An app for cataloguing your personal collections — books, films, series, records, games, things, places and notes — in one place, with collections that can mix types, a barcode scanner and notes inside every entry.
And, to be clear, what it isn't:
- It isn't a shop: we don't sell books, records or tickets, and we're not an intermediary in any purchase other than the app itself.
- It isn't a cloud service: no account, no server of ours, no remote copy of your data.
- It isn't a source of truth about works: catalogue data comes from community databases. See section 7.
4. Personal use
Anakel is licensed for personal, non-commercial use. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it, revocable if you breach these terms.
You may not:
- Decompile, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code, except to the extent the law expressly allows.
- Redistribute, resell, rent or sublicense the app.
- Use it to infringe third-party rights or for illegal activity.
- Abuse the public metadata catalogues the app queries — for example by automating bulk requests. They are free, community-run services, and abuse hurts them and everyone else using them.
5. Plans, payment and refunds
Anakel has a Free plan, complete and with no expiry, and a Plus plan unlocked by a one-time purchase. It's not a subscription: there is no recurring charge and no automatic renewal.
Payment is processed by your device's store — Google Play or the App Store — and is tied to your Google or Apple account, not to an Anakel account. That's why you can restore it on another device even though Anakel has no accounts. We never see or store your payment details.
Refunds. The one-time purchase is not refundable by us. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its own policies and time limits, and your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this clause. If you think you're entitled to a refund, start with the store; if that stalls, write to us.
What each plan includes is on the plans page. It may change over time, but we won't take something out of Free that was already in it and that you've been using.
6. Your content is yours
Everything you put into Anakel — your items, your collections, your notes, your covers — is yours. We acquire no rights over it, not even a licence to use it, because we never even receive it: it lives on your device.
You can take it out whenever you like as CSV or JSON, free and on any plan, from Settings → Data. And you're responsible for what you put in: if you add a cover of your own, having the right to use it is on you.
Since there's no copy on any server of ours, backing up is your responsibility. If you lose or reset your phone without having exported, that data can't be recovered: we don't have it.
7. Third-party metadata
When you scan a code or search for a title, Anakel queries public catalogues — Open Library, MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive and Wikidata — to fill the fields in for you.
They are community databases and they can be wrong. A wrong year, a misspelled author, a cover that isn't your edition's: it happens. We don't guarantee the accuracy, currency or availability of that data, and we're not liable for its errors.
Anything a catalogue fills in can be corrected by hand in the entry, and you can always catalogue without using them. If a catalogue changes its terms or becomes unavailable, that part of the app may stop working; the rest doesn't depend on them.
The titles, cover art and other material of the works you catalogue belong to their respective owners. Anakel is only the notebook you write them down in.
8. What we bring
The name Anakel, its icon, the design of the app and of this site, and the code belong to MTTechDev. Being allowed to use the app doesn't give you the right to use the brand or copy the design.
The Fraunces and Inter typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and their licence text is served alongside them at /fonts/OFL-Fraunces.txt and /fonts/OFL-Inter.txt.
9. No warranties, and how far we're liable
Anakel is provided "as is". We do what we can to make it work well — it's tested and what turns up gets fixed — but we don't warrant that it's free of errors or fit for a particular purpose you may have in mind.
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or the loss of data you haven't backed up. In no case will our total liability exceed the amount you paid for the app.
Nothing in this section limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer and that cannot be excluded by contract.
10. Changes to the app
We may update Anakel, add features and retire ones that stop making sense. If we ever had to discontinue the app, we'd give reasonable notice inside it and the CSV and JSON export would keep working so you could take everything with you.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Peru. Any dispute not settled in good faith will be submitted to the competent courts of Peru.
If you live in a country whose consumer legislation gives you the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your own domicile, that right prevails over the clause above.
12. Changes to these terms
Since we have no account and no email address of yours, we can't write to you. Changes are published on this same page, with the date at the top updated, and announced inside the app when they affect something material. Continuing to use Anakel after a change means you accept it.
